Sailboats, Fishing Vessels, Canoes ...

In general, power boats will avoid sailing vessels, fishing vessels, and smaller craft such as canoes, kayaks, and paddle craft.

Sailing vessels will avoid fishing vessels, and smaller craft such as canoes, kayaks, and paddle craft.

Larger craft should be sensitive to the effects of wash and wake when passing smaller craft, such as canoes and fishermen in small open craft.    Reduce speed to a minimum when passing by to minimize the effects of wave action on the smaller vessels.

Small vessels, such as canoes, should move in groups if possible to be more visible and stay clear of shipping lanes and narrow channels.
